Saturday, July 31, 2010, American Legion Riders attended Funeral Service for U.S. Air Force Veteran Merle Esslinger at Smith Mortuary, Derby, KS. Merle passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at age 67. Mr. Esslinger was a 20-year Air Force veteran…he served a tour in Vietnam & two tours in the Philippines. He was stationed at Duluth, Minnesota; San Antonio, Texas & McConnell AFB, KS. He was a dog handler & security policeman. Merle retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1984.
