9/17/10..John M. West American Legion Post 408/VFW Post 7253 held a Ceremony in remembrance of ALL POW-MIA’s on National POW-MIA Recognition Day. Names of 24 Kansas POW/MIA’s (Vietnam War) were read & a balloon released for each with names attached…Firing Squad & Taps followed. These 24 represent over 78,000 POW/MIA’s from WWII, 8,000 + from Korean War, 1,700+ from Vietnam War, 100+ from Cold War, 2 from Opertion Iraqi Freedom & Operation Enduring Freedom.
